Ring Rules & Time Management

Rules and Official Warnings

Time Rule

There is a 2 minute time limit to almost everything that has a time associated with it. Especially when your fighter is called to the ring. They will call your name 3 times and then you have 2 minutes to be at the ring and ready to go, before you are disqualified. If they call your name 3 times, and you do make it to the ring on time for the fight, they will start the match, but then immediately stop it and give you an official warning for being late to the ring.

2 minute rule applies to all of the following

  • You come to the ring with the wrong equipment
  • You have the wrong color
  • You forgot your groin protection

If you are not back within the 2 minute limit you will forfeit the fight.

Medical Time

There is a 2 minute limit that is used for the entire fight. If the doctor is called and action is stopped, there is a total accumulative time limit of 2 minutes that can be used. For example, if the doctor is called, and he spends 30 seconds examining the athlete, the remaining medical time is now 1 minute and 30 seconds for the rest of the match.

Note:

The doctor can stop the fight. If a doctor clears the athlete, but the center official does not feel they are able to continue, the center referee can stop the match, even if he was cleared by the doctor. This does not work the other way around. If the doctor stops the fight, the fight is over.

Safety is always the first concern.

Low Blows

You have 2 minutes if the official stops the fight due to a low shot. In other organizations they may give you up to 5 minutes, but not with USA Kickboxing.
