Visual Impairments
In this lesson, we will explore how visual impairments can impact individuals participating in Para Kickboxing. Visual impairments can range from partial sight to total blindness, and it is important for instructors to understand how to accommodate and support athletes with different levels of visual impairments.

Vision Impairment
Athletes with Vision Impairment have reduced or no vision caused by damage to the eye structure, optical nerves or optical pathways, or visual cortex of the brain.
Examples of an underlying health condition that can lead to Vision Impairment include retinitis pigmentosa and diabetic retinopathy.
WAKO Para Kickboxing Specific Classification Categories for Para Kickboxers with a Vision Impairment:
V1 Totally or almost totally blind They do not perceive lights but in shapes
V2 Partial Vision, commonly referred to as partially blind.
